The Blackberry Torch runs the new BlackBerry 6 Operating System, the first major operating system makeover BlackBerry went through since iPhone and Android have taken the mobile phone industry by storm.

This also marks RIM’s stand to defend their status as North America’s prevailing leader in the smartphone market. The Torch’s new design is a noticeable shift from the BlackBerry form factor users have grown accustomed with. You can find the best range of BlackBerry Torch contracts by visiting Best Mobile Contracts.

The Blackberry Torch comes in a small package. It is compact, stylish and a pleasure to hold, with measurements of 111 x 62 x 14.6 mm and 161 gram weight. The phone ships with a 3.2-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colours running at 360 x 480 pixels resolution.

What’s even more remarkable is that the Torch is a slider phone. Research in Motion alludes to this fusion as “the best of both worlds.”

Besides running a new OS, the Blackberry Torch is sustained by RIM’s excellent technological development and years of experience in wireless communication. RIM takes pride of its phones’ reliability, design and capability to provide users the most enjoyable BlackBerry experience.

The Torch can deliver both voice and data at astounding speeds. RIM accomplishes this through its own patented system of driving data to its devices. This is exemplified by RIM’s basic 2G phones that leave its competitor’s 3G handsets gasping in the dust.

The Blackberry Torch provides tight SNS integration which enables users to update their status on various social networks from just a single screen. It also comes with a WebKit browser, now made faster and more robust for easier web surfing.

The Torch’s Universal Search application is a very useful feature. Enter a search word and the application automatically scans the entire device as well as the internet for all relevant information like software, contacts, websites and other resources.
